AbsolutePoker.com
has been open for a while and probably has more freerolls than any other
site.
It looks like they have a $50 freeroll every hour.
The freerolls include Omaha, and Seven Card Stud.
The fields are quite large and the prizes are small, but it is an
excellent opportunity if you want to practice Stud or Omaha.
Their bonuses are normal and quite easy to clear. Their ring games
tend to be Hold’em and the competition is average.
The freerolls seem to keep a rather large school of fish playing
around the pier. |

CanBet.com
is a sports book that also has poker.
The software is rather bad and the games are limited but this site
probably has the loosest competition on the Internet.
This is definitely a profit opportunity for a real player.
Don’t go here if you like to play on tight tables.
Even at $10/20 tables more than %50 often see the flop.
This site has quite a few European players and they seem to be the
weakest.
I try to dodge the tables with too many Americans. The ring
games here present an excellent chance for the good player to make lots of
money. |

Checkandraisepoker.com opened late last year. It is a java site so no download is required. They are still building clientele but I expect it to grow as they adapt their java software to the Mac. Bob Ciaffone is the resident professional and plays in the games regularly where he is quite approachable and talkative. Playing or watching his No Limit play could be very educational for most players. |

FullTiltPoker.com
opened last year with an expressive crew of world-class professionals as
backers.
If you want to sit down with a real pro, you can usually find one
here.
The graphics and interface is on for the new clients released
recently but not exceptional.
The avatars tend to distract.
They do put only 9 players per table. (I prefer 10.)
The game selection is usually poor with only a few games going at
any time.
The competition is tight but can be beaten.
I just played for two hours in at a low limit table and 90% of the
time less than 3 people saw the flop.
They have a great deposit bonus of 100% up to $600 dollars and
allow you 90 days to work off the hand requirement.
I have been playing for a month and cleared only $50.

Noblepoker.com Is rather a novelty site with the first person perspective. I have it on my desk top for the shear novelty of it. For beginners the game is much slower, and the .02/.04 micro limits are also a great find for the beginner. The site also has quite a few freerolls. The site is still small and game selection is poor and the play is very slow because of the graphics so it isn't a good profit site. You play about half the games per hour. The bonuses combined with the Freerolls and other special promotion are some of the best. The competition was not weak, so expect a game when you play there. Again this is a great site to practice prior to your first trip to a "live" casino.

PartyPoker.com
combined with Empire is probably the biggest site online today.
They have separate ring games but combine for tournament play, both
multi-table and Sit & Go tournaments.
Like Pacific Poker this site has been around for a long time, and
their software is pretty old, but it is only apparent by the claymation
graphics at the table, and the individual tournament lobby.
I do wish they would add the Players’ standing to the tournament
lobby, and I don’t see why they can’t keep a running estimate of the
prize pool.
Originally, I did not care for their front lobby and game listings.
Now I find it a simple way to navigate through the many games
available at Party.
The front lobby is a definite plus. They
have a good line up of high entry fee tournaments, and you can find one
with over $20,000 in prizes throughout the day, and $200,000 once a day.
Availability of Sit & Go tournaments and ring games is
excellent.
Although, Party as many multi tournaments throughout the day, it is
hard to find any for $20+2 or less unless they are super satellites for
one of the bigger tournaments.
Competition here is considered soft, probably because the best
players are competing in the big prize tournaments throughout the day.
Look for me in the Sit & Go’s and the daily 200k.

PokerRoom.com
probably has the best software available.
Their notes, and quick player rating is leading edge.
The lobby is pretty good and the tournament lobby rivals Paradise
Poker. If
they put the prize schedule and complete player list in the lobby instead
of on a separate web page, it would be the best.
With the exception of a daily guaranteed the Poker Room schedule is
weak. Lots
of low entry fee tournaments $20+2 or below, but few above that level.
All of their high entry fee tournaments are super-satellites for an
end of the month big event.
Poker Room does have two daily freeroll, and two excellent weekly
players’ freerolls.
All require some real money play to enter or collect the prizes.
They only have single table Sit & Go’s now, but have added
scheduled two table tournaments.
You can always find a lower limit ring game or low entry
tournament, but high level games and tournaments are sporadic. The
competition varies at the Hold’em tables but the Stud games are quite
soft. The
access to the Pokah! Forum from the poker client is nice.
You can quickly check the profiles of the competition. The
players here are quite friendly, and don’t abuse beginners or novices
too much.
The Pokah! Forums can be quite helpful to the new player.
It is a Fun place to play.
Recently, ISP and new software problems as dimmed their
reliability, but hopefully they will work out the problems quickly.

ParadisePoker.com
is another old site but they have kept their software more current.
Their lobby is pretty good and they offer some non-standard games.
Their tournament lobby is one of the best online.
They offer three guaranteed tournaments daily with re-buy &
add-on.
Even though they offer a full range of ring games, and Sit & Go
tournaments, often it can be hard to find a game.
They also offer micro limits down to $.01/.02.
For the beginner this might be the place to learn.
They usually offer one or two freerolls during the day for a seat
in a tournament with an excellent prize, $100,000 or sponsorship in a
Poker tour event.
The competition here is some of the best online.
Even the low level games can be rock gardens.
The players can also be quite rude.
I find it amazing that the person called a moron is the one
stacking the chips.
This site could very well be the best site on the net.
Based on the lack of player incentives and bonuses, the management
definitely thinks so.

Redlightpoker.com is a new site that has only opened for "fun" money. I like the graphic interface, but I like things simple. Complicated graphics can distract from the game. They did run an excellent tournament and gave away a cruise cabin for the World Poker Shootout, earlier this year. Now they are running a $1500 no strings freeroll tournament every Thursday. |

UltimateBet.com suffers from bad software. The single window for everything just makes navigation difficult. They do have a unique freeroll schedule that allows you to win entries to larger tournaments and their use of players’ points is innovative. Although their lobby is passable, the tourney lobby is very bad. You have to refresh to update it periodically. Ultimate bet is the only site I know that does not refund your entry fee, if you withdraw from a tournament. They do have a range of micro tournaments that allow you to buy in with players’ points and they are one of the few sites where you can find Omaha Hi/Lo tournaments. I check them when I’m looking for a game, but even though the competition is soft, I seldom play here. They do usually have a good Stud game going. Pick you spots and you can be a winner here. Stud players could do well here, and any competent novice should be quite successful at Ultimate Bet. I’ll be in the ring games, Hold’em or more probably Stud. |

Victoriaspoker.com is a new site that opened for real money late last year. Since then it has had problems developing the traffic to sustain their real money games. Now they rely mostly on a series of freerolls as they attempt of build up their players. |

WilliamHillpoker.com is another poker site associated with an online sports book. For some reason the all exhibit the same characteristic: mediocre software, limited game selection, very loose competition. limited tournaments, better than average bonuses, and usually a good place to make money. They have been around much longer than most of these site and the experience does show. This one does have some qualities of its own. It has games in dollars, euro's, pound sterling and with the large number of European players, The competition here is even softer than at other sports book affiliated sites. |

RoyalVegasPoker.com is another poker site on the Prima Network. This network shares players at the table, and for tournaments. Recently had a software upgrade that gave it a neo Party Poker look in the Lobby at least. With the network there are always games, and a pretty comprehensive tournament schedule. They do give away $10 to everyone that signs up with no strings attached. |

JetsetPoker.com is another poker site suffering from little traffic. Usually the have 5 or 10 Pot Limit or No Limit games but they haven't had a single game the last week or so. The do allow private tournaments. Once they build up traffic this might be one of those unique little sites that provide a good source of income for the competent player. |
